We have a range of products for absorbing and filtering out mistakes and messes from the environment.
From oil spills to toxins in the water, our Zeolite is able to absorb and retain these, saving them from ending up in the environment.
Filtration
Filtering storm water and waterways for a cleaner tomorrow.
With the ability to attract and absorb nasty toxins, NZ natural zeolite has a multitude of uses.
- All natural heat sterilised mineral - contains no chemicals
- Exceeds EPA landfill leachate tests
- Absorbs immediately on contact
- Super absorbent capacity
- Ecologically safe - will not leach back absorbed fluids
Absorbents - Mineral Sponge
Multi-purpose liquid and vapour absorbent especially suited to spill control
Mineral Sponge is not only able to physically absorb chemical spill it can also chemically adsorb it. This is because positive cations bond onto the the negative sites contained within the structure of the zeolite. Being a light weight clay Mineral Sponge is easy to handle but not too light that it can't be used in windy or draughty conditions unlike other absorbents on the market that are only suited to indoor applications. Mineral Sponge absorbs almost all liquids; acids, alkalis, oils, chemicals and petroleum products.
While Mineral Sponge is widely used in the industrial area, it can be just as versatile at home or on the farm, mopping up liquid chemicals, or in the workshop after oil changes.
APPLICATION
It is very easy to use. In the case of a small spill, just spread mineral sponge evenly over the top and leave to absorb - or broom in to hasten the absorbing process. For larger spills, pour Mineral Sponge around the outside to 'dam' the spill (stop it from spreading) then spread over the top.
This process is also used for chemical spills with the added advantage of not only physically absorbing, but also chemically absorbing any vapour or toxic odours.
Mineral Sponge is available from the following retailers:
Filtration - Filta Aid
A filter media that effectively removes iron, manganese and odours from gravity fed filter systems
Filta-Aid is a natural mineral that has a large internal surface area and high cation exchange capability (C.E.C) that will allow much more adsorption of iron and manganese than sand as filter media. Our unique blend of two different zeolites give the maximum adsorption of iron and manganese.
Field trials have shown that the two pot mix of two different zeolites is the most effective way of removing iron and manganese in a gravity fed filter system.
Iron and manganese are frequently present in domestic water supplies. In well waters, the soluble iron oxide is converted to the soluble form of ferrous (disolved iron). Ferrous iron is colourless in solution, but when it comes in contact with the air, it oxidises readily creating reddish brown, solid particles which are then precipitated as ferric oxide (particles). High concentrations of iron or manganese will cause staining of laundry and porcelain fixtures and deposits in pipes, tanks and water heaters. In addition, iron may give the water a metallic taste making it unpleasant to drink. Iron bacteria, while considered harmless to health, can be very objectionable, causing slime and staining.
Aqual-P
Aqual-P is the environmentally safe product used to combat nutrient-based algal bloom in residential and municipal water courses, or catchments.
A powdered product, Aqual P has proven to be a natural weapon in the battle against nutrient-based algal bloom. Aqual P, has been used in New Zealand in the Central North Island lakes, including Rotorua’s Lake Okaro.
When applied to the sediment layer in the lake, Aqual P absorbs rogue phosphorus, cutting off the food source for problematic algae. BPM’s ingenuity was responsible for recognising that modified Zeolite could have a role to play in mitigating water pollution.
New Zeland-based Scion recognised this was research-worthy and teamed up with BPM in 2004 to develop technology based on the absorbent and cation exchange properties of the mineral. When trials were held on Lake Okaro, scientific testing showed significant reductions in phosphorous levels in the water.
The mineral effectively “capped” the lake bed, trapping phosphorous released from the sediment when the deeper water layers lose their oxygen in summer. This stopped nutrient levels in the water rising to the point where blue-green algae bloom can turn the lake into a thick algal soup.
BPM continues to explore avenues for the use of Aqual P in waste water treatment, as well as in recreational lakes.
The problem of phosphate contamination from intensive farming, poor water treatment in highly populated areas, and the growing demand for clean drinking water is worldwide and Aqual-P is a tool specifically designed to address this issue.
There is a largely untapped global market for this product and the topic of “clean water” is one that is near the top of the political list for most countries around the world.
APPLICATION
Aqual-P is made in powdered form and can be spread below the lake surface or alternatively from a barge or slurrying via heli-spread.
BPM have the worldwide marketing and manufacturing license to Aqual-P.
