Only 6 weeks away from completion, the new 3000 sq metre storage shed at the rear of the Blue Pacific Minerals site in Tokoroa will be the new home for BPM’s zeolite value-added products.
Grant Tidmarsh of GST Construction, along with the team at Waikato Steel Fabricators have been building the steel and concrete facility. The new storage shed will link the 2 older sheds (the original building on the site, plus a more recent addition completed in 2014), so that entire south-site manufacturing facility will now be connected and under-cover.
Production manager Tama Luke says “it’s a great step forward. Right now our storage capacity is full and we are sending staff home because there is nowhere to store product. We need more room so we have time to get ahead. There is the possibility now to be 4 to 5 weeks ahead of the market requirements".
The new storage facility will house milled zeolite and traded minerals that require blending for the production of BPM value-added products servicing the animal feed markets. Product blending can be a time consuming process, so the increased capability to house the raw materials until they are processed has been long–awaited.
